It's fast.. how fast? 95 KPH fast. And it's a friggin heavy.

Ac10
2LLs
1ML
XL 320 engine.

Solid armor distribution. Quite frequently it'll bag 500 to 700 damage and anywhere from 2 to 4 kills.

This article is all about laaazorz.

THis one is Ohm's reference sheets, they contain weapon damages, ranges, heat, weight, engines, mech hard point data, as well as how fast a given mech will go with a given engine.

Mechwarrior Online / The basics of Catapult 101.
« on: November 05, 2012, 10:04:42 PM »
Hello everyone, I'm going to introduce you to the Catapult today. The Catapult and how it is setup is arguably the most important part of how a given team operates in combat. It is the very foundation of damage out put and kills for a given team.  Please note this thread, is the first of many and like my threads before in other games, is subject to being changed, with various balance passes, and as my knowledge of the game expands.

A close range catapult for example, means the team is going to be based around more close in fighting to help support the cats, on average. Any assault mechs on the team generally will be carrying an LRM10 or 15, to provide long range fire support while they close into combat.  Light mechs as always are best built as close in skirmishers so you have them peppering, and murdering targets that the cats put a crippling on, and any Dragons on the field will probably be also built as skirmishers to better support the cats and lights with a possible addtion of 2 LRM5s to cause long range target disruption.   This is a great example of how a pair of cats will affect team composition on a premade level.

Long range cats, the scouts become more of target markers, and any dragons become a long range fire support mech with a pair of streak2s or srm4s to clear off enemy close range harassment. Assault mechs will probably carry a Streak or SRM or two, to help deal with any light weight harassment mechs.

How the team moves also changes, as an lrm heavy team will want to keep their backs to as much cover as possible, and their enemies hopefully in wide open spaces as much as possible. While a close range team will be moving through thick cover to cover, carefully, to out flank longer range combatants and isolate any enemy mechs possible, and overwhelm them in a very short time span.

The first question is, how many cats do you take in a given team?

For an 8 man group, the most successful teams I have been with tend to take 2. The 2 cats are generally kitted out incredibly similarly and fulfill the same battlefield role. This is because the catapult is a very effective force multiplier when taken in multiples of the same kind.

For a 4 man group you can bring this down to 1 and generally be Ok.

My next post in this article series will cover the specific catapult variants in detail. This was just the overview and general team tactics relating to the Catapult.

To quote one of my favorite Reviewers. Betrayal!

So every trailer I've seen, really makes Lara out to be just a whimpering horror girl bitch. Even the official E3 trailer.

"this story is dark and edgy!" No, it's lazy uninspired, and pathetic. You took a strong independent lead, and turned her into a professional victim.
Actually, no, this is Uncharted in game mechanics only. In Uncharted 3 young Nathan Drake was self confident to the point of cockiness and snarky. I would have pictured a young lara to always be fearless and adventurous. The whole "dark edgy trauma drama" thing is just lazy story telling. Yeah I'm going to wait for quite a few reviews before I even look at this title seriously. Every trailer I get, ever interview I hear, just gives me that "This is going to Suck and Fail" vibe.

I'm just going to steal a quote from the comments here:
To quote a friend. And fellow associate of Linkara's, James Macquarrie

"Why couldn't Lara start out as a tough, competent kid who didn't need anyone's protection? I have a daughter like that. She's been fearless, self-possessed and supremely confident since birth. She's 16 now and talking to her uncle about starting krav maga classes. Frankly, I would expect Lara Croft to have started out like her, born with boldness and a thirst for adventure, rather than as a mousy wimp forced to overcome her natural temperament and disposition in order to become a badass out of necessity as a substitute for trauma therapy.

Here's a fact: trauma does not transform weak people into strong ones. It breaks them. Trauma brings one's strength to the surface, but it has to be there in the first place. It's utterly lacking in the girl they showed us here, and no amount of trauma is going to instill it."

No Crystal Dynmaics doesn't get it, it's not about Lara's cup size or skimpy attire. It's about her bold adventurous attitude that appeals to gamers especially the female ones. So yeah, have her drop a cup size or two, dress her up in more sensible attire, but if you take away the bold fearless adventurer we know and love, you take away Lara. Oh and the "OMG I've killed somebody!" Yeah, they already did that in Anniversary.

Razer Academy: Athene on Backwards Rationalization

Or in other words, it's always at least a certain percentage (whatever percent of players you make in a given match) your own damn fault you lost.

Suck it up, analyze what went wrong, and try to correct it.

If you've got Team Lead, and you had options to take different loadouts that honestly would be more appropriate that, responsibility is on you for not nudging people in that direction..

If you're the healer, think what could you have done better to better utilize your cooldowns?

If you're racing, think of what corner you are honestly losing the most ground on, and try to correct it in test sessions. Run the track into the dirt over and over again until you're ready to take your competition. Find your next weakest corner, and either tweak your car, or your driving till you get it right.

And so forth.

It's a great vid though.

Fleet Chat / CAC SOB Merger possibility.
« on: March 09, 2012, 10:43:48 PM »
As, both of us have big gaping holes in our lineups in STO (dunno how you guys are doing in swtor), the guys, Bubble, and Naevius and I got to talking about a merger with the SOB fellas. It would bolster both of our rosters considerably and give us a fighting edge against the Pandas.

We have very similar cultures between our guilds/fleets.
We're talkin setting up a 3rd fleet, as we working out the logistics. If nothing else it should help us thin out inactive ranks etc. :)
Give your input guys, as this is a huge step forward potentially. I'd love to hear suggestions and comments.

Our first order of business of course is comin up with names, see where the teams go etc.

General Discussion / My car is gone...
« on: March 04, 2012, 02:07:29 PM »
http://s41.photobucket.com/albums/e257/legends_inc1/Cars/

My firebird. No it's not a dog or even alive. But this was my car. My dream car. Ever since I saw one as a child, I knew someday I would have one. I'm no poet and I'm nothing fancy as far as a writer. But I have to post this, or else it's going to kill me. This car was to me what was left of my soul this car wasn't just some dishwasher with wheels. It was a car someone had put their soul into, and a car to be appreciated as more than just a mere machine. A true car, becomes Art because it speaks to it's owner on some deep psychological level. It doesn't have to be scorchingly fast, it just needs to have a unique character, something you will always remember fondly, days gone by or 20 years down the road you open the garage take a look at your piece of Art, that someone wrought many painstaking hours on the design floor over and then you thereafter, and smile.

A car is more than just a hunk of steel, plastic, and rubber. A car is and rightfully should be part of it's owner.

It took me until last year to get my wish. On a shining may morning I got a phone call from my father saying he had seen a Firebird for sale and was wondering if I was interested. I asked him where it was to take a look at it.

This was the beautiful machine that sat there waiting for someone take her home. I knew as saw as I saw the car, that some way I was going to buy the car. The rational and calm part of my brain explained calmly that there's a reason it's on a car lot. People don't just give up Firebirds, especially ones like this willingly without some catastrohpic damage. I was greatful that my logical and calm side was dead wrong. It drove as if it had just rolled off the assembly line and I knew I had to get it.

Five years of looking for the right car, and here it came to me.
I bought the car and got a steal on it. The car salesman thought it was a salvage title, and he didn't find out otherwise till the day the money changed hands. Not only that he got the year wrong by 3 years.

Relearning how to drive a stick in that car, and taking it around. I couldn't believe it was mine. She hadn't yet gotten a name and people ribbed me about it. I told them I would know the right name when the time was right. Months and months went by, and then the car got her name. A hose that had been on the car since 1996 finally let go, gushing radiator fluid all over the street by my best friend's place. Panic hilarity and two dealership related mess ups later, I looked at the car which I had just gotten back from a long trip to Charlotte at and I knew the car's name. Christine. I joked and said "you suckered me in girl. Now you have me and wanna bleed me." The car and I never had a problem since. I bought new rims and tires for the car, giving it a massive aesthetics upgrade that left me wondering why GM ever put those fugly factory wheels on the car to start with that surely started life on a Bonneville's design team. (and they probably didn't want them)

The car and I were making progress and life moved forward, new parts were ordered to upgrade my brakes.  Finally my life was turning the corner. Finally I could start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and maybe the worst days of my life were over. That came to a crashing halt early this morning while I slept soundly on the couch. Some newspaper delivery man, driving on the wrong side of the road on a 20mph street going at least 30, ran head long into my dear Christine. I laid awake, just before it happened knowing that I should get up and head home, just as I pondered getting out of bed, my best friend gave me news that short of telling me that my family had died in a fire, could not have wrenched my soul asunder more completely. "Aaron you have to get up. Someone hit your car"

It didn't truly hit me until I came home, without my beloved car. I sit here weeping like a girl, trying to articulate to you, to all of you how I feel and I know I'm coming up horribly short.  I have lost something today that represented the last hard five years of blood sweat and tears, I have lost something that isn't even just a material thing. I have lost something that I truly loved, perhaps as much as the first woman I ever fell in love with. I know it's silly to get so attatched to "just a car" but the car was more than that. That car mirrored me

I had 2 dcs, and two massive lag spikes where I couldn't even steer my ship towards the end the team system failed completely and we had to re team mid combat. But we still pulled it off.. We were even a man down for the whole thing due to someone dcing early.
