Assuming what he said about ''all prices are double'' is true... this is bizarre.

I'm very very skeptical about this. It seems rather rushed and half hearted.

Way more TAC and ENG skills than SCI. Seems odd.

At the very least they can honestly now say "It's like two games for the price of one". Instead of a cool space game, and a game where your Cap'n would in all probability, vaporize himself, whenever he drew his sidearm. Still no online cardgame though.

Cryptic says they're going to overhaul the space tree first, hopefully by the time F2P goes online. Then the ground skills after. Both look pretty light on SCI skills. Currently only one SCI tree at each tier, except tier 2 which has 2 trees.

Basically every sci skill you have is going to be as if it's fully specced if it's not a heal.

Yeah that's right sci just got even more OP.

This also has a very heavy slant towards healing and tanking and a slap in the face to dps toons in it's current layout. Which is hilarious because Healing (outside of sci's overly insane control capability) in sto is the problem not dps.

Is there anything in STO that you don't think unbalanced? Perhaps the text? Maybe the color pallet?

DPS isn't with the exception of Torp Spread.

Most of the Engineering skills are also fine, save for the utterly worthless ones, which are unbalanced due to being a liability for even being on the ship. (boarding party lol, Aceton lol, RSP2 &3, Emergency to Engines any rank, and lol aux to batt)

However the gamut of Science skills are. Ironically, the OP healing also comes from, you guessed it. Science skills.

The problem is Cryptic does not understand the sheer value of Resistance stacking, nor the gross power of science AOEs. To them an AOE should be as good against a single target as it is a group. (one of the devs actually said, They always want every power to be useful, in all scenarios equally.)

They never have grasped this, and it seems they never will.

You want to know why people are leaving sto like the cheap broken hooker it is? It's directly related to cryptic's refusal to admit sci skills in their current implementation is a train wreck of a mistake. And making all sci skills buff up based on solely one or two skills is only going to make that worse.

I don't understand the sheer value of resistance stacking, either. Not sure I want to. Math was never my bag. Doesn't affect my enjoyment of the game, though. Apparently it's a dealbreaker for you. You find STO to be horribly, unbalanced, and unfair to you. I understand that. You wrote me a letter explaining that you and Cryptic had reached an impasse, and you wouid be discontinuing your script at the earliest opportunity. You appointed your successors, and wished everyone well in their future endeavors. Yet, curiously, you continue to flame a game, that, by your own admission, you no longer play. You're the guy at work, who tells his coworkers he's quitting his job because it sucks, and then continues to show up at his job, if only to tell everyone else, that their jobs suck too. Just not sure why.

I think the biggest problem with the skill tree is the cost of respecing..

When i played wow it was little more than an hours farming worth of gold, if that.

In sto a respec costs several days of honour.

Making the skills more generic so you don't need to respec is daft.

They certainly have a tendancy to screw people there.  With the skill tree change they will probably include 1 respec token which really isn't enough but going to F2P they'll probably want people to buy additional ones.
